The Oscar season commences!
In this article, Mercury News discusses the approaching Oscar season, and, unfortunately, doesn’t seem to think RotK’s chances of winning Best Picture are particularly high.

If the Academy disses RotK and PJ, I hereby solemnly vow never to watch the Oscars again.
Hear, hear! We’ll boycott the Oscars forever! These films are an amazing accomplishment, and they deserve recognition!
the academy has no idea WHAT theyr dealin wif…and if rotk dun get the oscar 4 best picture, ill scream like crazy..ill b calling gandalf 2 turn them into sumfin unnatural..lolz

Oww, there’s a poll. But those guys from the academy don’t give a sh*t about what the public thinks,I’ve seen it before. Well, they’ll probably get lynched if ROTK doens’t win. If read about things where people got eaten by the crowd if the crowd dissagreed with them on something. But that was in ancient Rome….
I have to admit I fully expect RoTK to be snubbed at the Oscars…after all, they snubbed Fellowship for Chicago (a good movie, but better? I honestly don’t believe so)..
I dont believe that the people really care what the true public thinks. They are always leave out LOTR… I really hope that ROTK wins, but its only HOPE. Thats why I like the MTV Movie Awards, because you actually get to VOTE, and its actually seems fair to me.

I’m still pissed (just like everybody) that Chicago beat Fellowship. Were they drunk??? They’re dishonest. Hopefully they’ll come clean this year and vote for the worlds best movie, Return of the King!!! I seriously think that with all the hard work and attention to detail and commitment level and skill and dedication that everybody in this production has put in for what, 8-9 years for pj and fran at least, they deserve some sort of special award. THIS is how movies should be made. This is a pioneering movie; It raises the bar on so many facets of cinema today. Peter and Fran have worked a miracle, really, and this kind of quality shall probably never again be acheived.
I volunteer to lead the lynch mob if ROTK isn’t best picture. (I’m a pretty good public speaker…) WHO’S WITH ME???
If they don’t give us the preciouss, I think we should ler HER do it, it would be much safer that way. Going back to the dungeons of Bara-dur would not be fun for us.
We know from the past that Oscar doesnt go for the big epics unless someone truly famous in it has died. Lets hope that this year someone knocks some sense into them. This film had all the right combinations to make it the most memorable film of all time. Go Peter!!!! Hope you win too!!!
The academy had better give ROTK best picture. It certainly deserves it. They should choose based on devotion to perfection, and we all know that thats exactly what PJ and Fran did. If it loses to some mediocre, second rate movie, then I say LYNCH THE ACADEMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
