History:

Was born and raised in Minas Tirith before the War of the Ring. She married at the age of 15 quite out of necessity, for she had been attacked and subdued by a man in the street one night. Later she found out she was pregnant. A dear friend, Turvell—who was several years older than she—offered to marry her if only to preserve her honor. So she became a mother at the age of sixteen, so thankful for the greater age and widom of her new husband, who lovingly helped her through those difficult first few years raising her son, which she named Anohir. They moved out of the City, onto a small farm just south of Minas Tirith near the River. It was several more years before they had any children of their own. Then came along another son, Rilvir; and three years later a third son, Rilon, was born.

Their life was very happy until Turvell began having problems with his helth. He had a weak heart since childhood, and it finally began giving him some problems. When Rilon was only six Turvell became bedridden. Less than a year later he was dead from heart failure. Ríen grieved for him for a long time, but she tried to remain strong for her boys’ sake, continuing to raise them alone. Looking at her now, three years later, one could never guess at her recent grief, for she has decided to move on with her life, though she will never forget her kind husband.
